— Questions
Ask us anything.
Every question owners ask before they sign up, answered once, in one place.
Getting started
Callra is an AI phone agent that answers every inbound call 24/7, in three builds. The restaurant build takes the full order (pickup, dine-in, or delivery) against your live menu and sends guests a branded SMS order-tracking link. The salon build books, moves and cancels appointments against your live diary, including into colour processing time, and will not offer a colour slot to a client with no valid allergy alert test on file. The dental build books patients with the right dentist, gives a patient in pain the soonest slot, and sends red-flag symptoms to emergency care instead of booking them.
It answers on the first ring and finishes the job on the call. For a restaurant it validates the order against your live menu and pushes it to your owner dashboard and mobile app, plus your POS if one is connected. For a salon it books against your live diary, honouring working hours, turnaround buffers, time off and any allergy-alert test rule you have set. For a dental practice it books with the right dentist and keeps to appointments only: no clinical records, no clinical advice.
Yes. English and Spanish with mid-call code-switching is Callra's flagship bilingual capability. Callra also supports French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Hindi, Japanese, Russian, Arabic, Norwegian, and Urdu.
Every Callra account can switch on a dynamic ordering storefront at no extra cost. It builds itself from the same live menu the phone agent uses, so items, prices, modifiers, and sold-out flags stay in sync automatically, and web orders land in the same dashboard as phone orders. Guests order there by tapping through the menu. The voice agent answers your phone, not your website.
It depends on the vertical, and the honest answer differs. For restaurants, yes: Callra works with Square and Clover for POS, and payments run through Stripe, Converge (Elavon), Clover or Square via hosted checkout or an SMS pay link. For salons, no: Callra keeps its own diary rather than syncing with another booking system, so the chair runs in Callra or it does not.
Callra answers around the clock, and your simultaneous-call capacity is provisioned for your restaurant. We size it to your real call volume at onboarding and raise it as you grow, so a Friday rush doesn't send guests to voicemail.
Payments are processed by PCI-DSS-compliant providers (Stripe, Converge/Elavon, Clover, or Square) via a hosted checkout or SMS pay link. Callra does not store raw card numbers.
Both are settings you control per restaurant: a spoken recording notice can play in the greeting before anything is captured, and the agent can announce upfront that it is an AI. Independently of either switch, it never denies being an AI or being recorded. Asked plainly or aggressively, it tells the caller the truth. Transcripts of every call are retained. Confirm your own state's consent requirements with your counsel.
It splits by vertical. Salons and dental practices have three published plans, from $70 a month, with every salon feature listed on the pricing page. Restaurants are quoted per restaurant rather than sold off a rate card, because cost depends on call volume and how many locations you run. Languages never change the price in either vertical — every language the agent speaks is included.
No. You can sign up and set everything up in the Callra app for free, and the agent starts answering calls when you choose a plan.
It depends mostly on how big your menu or service list is. You sign up, add your business details, your menu (or your services and team), choose a voice and language, then pick a plan. Restaurants on Square or Clover can import their menu instead of typing it.
Yes. Forward the number your customers already call to your Callra number, and nothing changes for them. Or use the new number that comes with your plan.
Restaurants
Callra Phone AI answers your restaurant's inbound calls using natural language AI, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It greets callers with your restaurant name, takes the full order including add-ons and substitutions, handles payment through a secure SMS checkout link, and sends the finished order straight to your POS ticket queue. At any point the caller can ask for a person and the call is transferred to your line.
Callra Phone AI integrates natively with Clover and Square, including menu import and order forwarding. Native integration means there is no middleware or third-party API layer. Orders write directly to your POS ticket queue in real time. Contact sales to confirm your POS system is supported before signing up.
Payments are processed by PCI-DSS-compliant providers: Stripe, Converge/Elavon, Clover, and Square. Card details are entered through a secure hosted checkout link and are never spoken or entered during the call itself; Callra never stores raw card numbers on its own servers. Contact sales with questions about a specific payment processor.
Callra Phone AI is quoted per restaurant rather than sold off a published rate card, because cost depends on your call volume and how many locations you run. Which languages you need does not change the price — every language is included. There is no free trial: you can create your account and set up your menu for free, and our team quotes a plan on your real call volume before anything is charged.
Yes. Callra Phone AI handles complex orders including item add-ons, substitutions, variants, allergen notes, sold-out items, and scheduled orders, and supports mid-call edits and cancellations. The AI confirms the full order back to the caller, giving customers a chance to correct any misunderstandings.
Callra Phone AI is optimised for restaurants that take phone orders: pizza chains, fast casual, QSR, and multi-location independents. It works best for restaurants receiving 50 or more inbound calls per day. Contact sales to determine the best fit for your concept.
A caller can ask for a person at any point ("let me talk to someone", "is anyone there") and Callra transfers the call to your restaurant line and steps out. The agent also offers that handoff itself when a request is outside what it can do, such as an order placed outside your working hours. Every call is transcribed and saved to your dashboard, so you can see exactly what was said before the transfer.
Callra gives you the controls; you decide how to use them for your state. You can switch on a spoken recording notice that plays in the greeting before anything is captured, and the agent always answers truthfully if a caller asks whether the call is recorded. It will never deny it. Text transcripts of every call are retained. All-party consent states set a higher bar than others, so confirm your own obligations with your counsel; Callra does not provide legal advice.
Salons
Yes. This is gap-aware booking. A colour is modelled as apply, process and finish, and because the stylist is free through the processing stretch, Callra can book a cut into it. You turn it on per salon and off per service, so anything that should hold the chair end to end still does.
As a gate, not a warning. A colour service you flag as needing a test can only be booked by a client with a valid one on file: 48 hours ahead and good for 180 days by default, both adjustable per service. Without one the slot is never offered, and records are append-only so the history survives for your insurer.
Yes. Callra looks up the existing appointment and cancels or reschedules it inside the same call, without handing the caller to a person. It also recognises returning clients and can rebook their usual service with their usual stylist.
Yes, and every part of it is yours to set: whether messages send at all, how far ahead the reminder lands, anywhere from an hour to a fortnight, and what it includes: stylist, service, price, address, plus any line of your own. Quiet hours are on by default, so a message that would land at 3am is held rather than dropped.
Yes. When a caller asks for a person you choose where that goes: a phone number, or the Callra app itself. Through the app it rings your iPhone on the normal system call screen, and you can minimise the call to book that client in while you are still talking to them.
No, and that is deliberate. The diary, appointments, services, stylists, client book, reminders, reports and settings are all in the app, because salons are not run from a desk. The one thing on the open web is your clients’ booking page.
No. Callra keeps its own diary rather than syncing with another system, so the chair runs in Callra or it does not run in Callra. There is no Google Calendar sync and no import from an existing booking tool today. That is worth knowing before you sign up rather than after: if the book you have is working and you only want a voice answering the phone beside it, Callra is not the shape of that. If the phone is the thing that is broken, the diary comes with it.
Yes, from the Studio plan up. Clients browse your services and book themselves, with no account and no payment, on the same availability engine as the phone agent, so it obeys the same hours, buffers, time off and allergy-test rules, and the booking lands in your diary either way.
It reduces them with the reminder you configure, and it measures them: your report separates revenue booked from revenue completed from revenue lost to no-shows, alongside your no-show rate, average ticket and rebooking rate. Callra does not take deposits or charge cancellation fees.
Yes. One chair is a first-class setup, not a cut-down version of a bigger one. Callra will not ask a caller which stylist they would like when there is only one answer; it names you once and moves straight to times.
English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Hindi, Japanese, Russian, Arabic and Norwegian among others. It can run a bilingual line, pairing English with one other, that switches between the two mid-conversation as the caller does.
Dental
It offers the soonest suitable appointment you have, rather than the next routine opening. If what the caller describes sounds like an emergency, it does not book at all: it tells them where to get urgent care, including your local emergency number. It never gives clinical advice.
Callra books appointments only. It stores a patient name, a phone number, the appointment time and any short note your team adds, and it has no field for clinical information. Whether that meets your obligations is for your practice to decide; we are happy to walk through exactly what is stored before you sign up.
Not today. Callra keeps its own diary, which the phone agent and the Callra app both book into, and it does not sync with other practice systems. If you plan to run another system alongside it, ask us how other practices handle that before you switch.
Yes. Each dentist has their own hours, time off and the treatments they do, and the agent only offers times that fit all three. Each dentist can see their own day in the app, and reception can see everyone's.
Yes, if they ask, always. You can also have it say so in the greeting, along with a call-recording notice. Asked for a person, it transfers the call to your number.
Three plans: Solo at $70 a month with 250 minutes of calls, Practice at $130 with 500, and Clinic at $190 with 800, each with its own phone number. There is no free trial: you can create your account and set up your practice for free, and the agent starts answering when you choose a plan.
Pricing & billing
No. Signing up and setting everything up is free. The agent starts answering, and billing starts, when you choose a plan.
Calls keep being answered. Extra minutes are added to your next bill at your plan's rate: $0.35 a minute on Chair or Solo, $0.30 on Studio or Practice, and $0.25 on Suite or Clinic. Restaurant plans include their rate in the quote.
By talk time, rounded up to the next six seconds, not per call and not to the next whole minute. A 63-second call counts as 66 seconds, or 1.1 minutes.
Yes, at any time from the app or the web. Moving up is charged only for what is left of the month.
Your plan stays on until the end of the month you've paid for, then stops. Any extra minutes from that month are on a final bill.
If you subscribe inside the app, Apple or Google take a share of the payment, so the price there is higher than on the web. The plan is the same either way.
No. There is no setup fee and no contract; plans are monthly.
Security & data
Callra AI itself is not PCI DSS certified. Payment card data is handled by PCI-compliant processors (Stripe, Converge/Elavon, Clover, or Square) via hosted checkout and tokenization, so Callra never stores raw card numbers.
Not yet. Callra is a young company and does not hold SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, or GDPR certification today. We will publish real audit results here if and when they are completed. We do not claim certifications we don’t have.
Data is hosted in the United States. Call recordings, transcripts, orders and appointments are encrypted in transit and at rest.
Text transcripts are kept for every call, and audio is recorded when your recording notice is on. The notice plays in the greeting by default, and the agent always answers truthfully if a caller asks whether the call is recorded or whether they are talking to an AI. Some U.S. states require every party to consent to recording; confirm your own state’s rules with your counsel, as this is not legal advice.

A small set of providers that make a call work: LiveKit carries the audio, Deepgram turns speech into text, Google Gemini understands and replies, ElevenLabs produces the voice, and Twilio handles phone numbers and texts. Owners agree to this when they set up the agent. Card payments go to your own payment provider.
No. You own your data, and Callra does not sell it to third parties.
Callra does not currently publish a numeric uptime SLA. We will share real, measured availability data as it becomes available.
Callra does not currently have a scheduled third-party penetration-testing program. Security review is part of our roadmap as the product matures.
Email info@callraai.com and our team will walk you through how data is handled today and our plans for formal certifications. Our Data Processing Agreement is published at /legal/dpa/.
Languages
13: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Hindi, Urdu, Japanese, Russian, Arabic, Norwegian. You choose the language when you set the line up, and it can be changed later.
Yes, on a bilingual line. The agent pairs English with one other language and switches between the two mid-conversation as the caller does, without the caller pressing anything or asking. A bilingual pair must include English — the agent does not switch between two non-English languages — and Arabic and Norwegian cannot be paired, because the speech model behind the switching does not carry them.
No, for any business. Language is a setting rather than a tier: every salon and dental plan carries the same agent, and a restaurant quote is built from call volume and how many locations you run, not from which languages you need. A bilingual line costs what an English-only line costs.
No. Each language is spoken natively rather than translated from an English script, so hours, service names and menu items are read the way a local speaker would say them. What the agent can do is identical in every language — it takes the full order or books the appointment, not a reduced version of either.
